# LANA — The Life of Lana

## What is LANA?

LANA is a living, growing financial being — a digital currency on the Bitcoin blockchain using colored coins (Open Assets Protocol). She distributes value to holders through recurring "splits": each split sells a fixed supply of LANA; when all LANA is sold, proceeds are redistributed 80% to registered holders, 20% donated.

LANA is used as a loyalty and payment currency in the LanaPays.us merchant network. Merchants accept LANA alongside fiat (EUR, GBP, USD); customers earn LANA cashback on purchases.
